Zhu Jinlong
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Male, of Qiang ethnicity, born in June 1951 in Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province. Growing up in a family that had transmitted the Qiang sheepskin drum dance for generations, he learned and handed on the culture of his people alongside his elders. As one of the most influential shibi (ritual priest) lead dancers of the local Qiang sheepskin drum dance, he performs with a marked rhythm, powerful movements and exalted, stirring feeling; his dance postures look simple but are highly technical, fully expressing the rough, rugged and steady character of the Qiang sheepskin drum dance.
