Fang Xinzhong
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Male, of Han ethnicity, born in 1949 in Shexian County, Anhui Province. Fang Xinzhong studied painting and the crafts of wood, bamboo, and stone carving from childhood; in 1985 he was admitted to the Anhui Huizhou Classical Garden Construction Company, where he devoted himself to carving in wood, bamboo, and stone. Fang Xinzhong excels particularly in brick carving: while inheriting the traditional craft, he continually enriched and expanded it, daring in practice and bold in innovation, designing and producing brick-carving works of all sizes on his own.
