Male, Han ethnicity, born in November 1944, a native of Dongyang City, Zhejiang Province. A senior arts and crafts artist and a Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts. In 1958 he entered the Dongyang Bamboo Weaving Factory and studied bamboo weaving under the renowned bamboo craftsman Ma Fushi. In 1982 he was invited to Australia and other countries to give demonstrations of his craft. In 1983 he directed the weaving of the large bamboo work Nine-Dragon Wall, 6.19 meters long and 2.68 meters high, using more than one hundred and fifty weaving techniques. He originated a number of weaving methods, including scale-pattern openwork weaving, double-strand silk-bound rattan fine-flower dragon and herringbone-pattern color-separated dragon. In 2005 he repaired the bamboo weaving sections of the Juanqin Studio at the Palace Museum. He has taken part in many craft demonstrations and exchange activities; his works received the Gold Cup at the China Arts and Crafts Hundred Flowers Award and were listed as national arts and crafts treasures. In 1997, as a principal participant, he made the 2,500-meter-long Craft Dragon specially for Hong Kong, whose eyes were dotted by Tung Chee-hwa, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, setting a Guinness world record for the longest dance dragon.
