Li Rongsen is the third-generation inheritor of theatrical costume and prop making in his family. In 1976 he studied theatrical costume pattern design under his father, and later studied color and embroidery at the Suzhou Theatrical Costume and Prop Factory.

Male, of Han ethnicity, born in 1956, a native of Suzhou, Jiangsu. He is a national representative bearer of the Juzhuangxiju (theatrical costume and prop) Making Craftsmanship, a first-batch national intangible cultural heritage project, and is a craft artist at the Suzhou Theatrical Costume and Prop Cooperative Company. He has conducted considerable research on the styles of the various opera genres across the country and their different schools, and has basically mastered the production process of all theatrical costume and prop products as well as the manufacturing techniques of most prop items. After Li Rongsen assumed the post of deputy factory director, he vigorously promoted the improvement and innovation of traditional theatrical costumes. The theatrical costumes and props produced by the enterprise under his leadership cover a complete range of categories, are rich in variety, feature distinctive patterns and elegant colors, and are finely and excellently crafted. In 2000, at the invitation of the State Council Information Office, he traveled to the United States with a Chinese government cultural delegation, serving as an advisor for the exhibition of Chinese historical costumes presented by the delegation. In his spare time he has also devoted attention to organizing and collecting materials, and in 2006 he completed the book Zhongguo Chuantong Xiyi (Traditional Chinese Theatrical Costumes).
