Under his father's influence he mastered the telling of short tales such as Wang Chen Gai San Zi (The King, the Minister and the Beggar's Three Sons), La Gu Zan Bu Wang He Tuo Gu Zan Bu Wang (King Lagu Zanbu and King Tuogu Zanbu) and Mo Wang Jia Yu Gang Gang (The Demon King Jiayu Ganggang). From 1992 he formally studied with his father the singing of the long tale Shang Fang De Ri Xi Ri Ga He Xia Fang De Ri Xi Ri Ma (The Sun of the Upper Realm and the Sun of the Lower Realm), and in the course of this he also learned to tell short tales such as Yang Gao Xiong Di (The Lamb Brothers), Ban Zhang Xiao Tou (The Half-Palm Thief), Hu Li (The Fox), Dong Bian Lao Shu (The Old Tree in the East), Mo Wang Qia Ga Qia Luo (The Demon King Qiaga Qialuo) and Shi Rou Hua Hu (The Man-Eating Striped Tiger); he made use of the slack farming season to recite stories for the local people and won their affection. In 2000 he began learning from his father his signature folktale Bei Qiong (Sorrowful Qiong).
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Male, Tibetan ethnicity, born in August 1969, a native of Jiali County, Tibet Autonomous Region. A teller of Jiali folktales. In 1980 he began following his father, Niangbu Gongsang Jique, in telling folktales. In 2010 he devoted a whole year specifically to consolidating and strengthening the intonation of the Bei Qiong story, making the tale he tells more vivid still.

National representative bearer of the Jiali Folk Tales, a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project.
