Lineage & School of Heritage
She studied under the Yangzhou embroidery artist Chen Shuyi.
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
Female, Han ethnicity, born in November 1953 in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. A senior master of arts and crafts. She has inherited and developed the poetic landscape double-sided embroidery and the naturally spirited ink-wash freehand embroidery. She combines the emphasis on stitch technique in Yangzhou embroidery with the brushwork of Chinese painting, reproducing the spirit of the original brush and ink. Understanding the meaning of the painting, she fully expresses the texture and character of both the beauty of the stitches and the beauty of the silk threads. Her works use finely split silk threads and dense stitching, with rich color, neat and lustrous surfaces, and artistic images that are fresh, elegant, refined and expressive.
