1960年前后师从海州五大宫调名玩友孙汝德、徐锦凤，先学唱，后以二胡伴奏为主，能随乐曲情绪变化演奏不同风格的曲牌，配合玩友演唱。

长期坚持广泛收集、整理海州五大宫调的各类曲牌、曲目，几十年共收集25本，计二百多首曲目。
其主要代表作品有海州五大宫调的【软平】【叠落】【骊调】【南调】【波扬】。

第二批国家级非物质文化遗产项目海州五大宫调代表性传承人。
