Male, Han ethnicity, born in November 1967 in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Representative bearer of green tea processing craftsmanship (Biluochun processing craftsmanship), a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. A technician of Biluochun green tea processing. He comes from a family known as "tea kings". Over more than thirty years in the craft he has constantly experimented and summed up his experience, developing his own distinctive roasting technique and trying his hand at new products such as Biluo black tea and osmanthus-flavoured black tea. The Biluochun tea he roasts has a slender, tightly rolled, snail-curled appearance covered in downy hair and a silvery-green colour with hidden emerald notes; its liquor is jade-green, its fragrance refined and elegant, and its taste refreshingly sweet with an endless aftertaste. For many years he has persisted in teaching his craft and has taken on nearly thirty apprentices.
Honors & Recognition
In 2004 he won first place in the Biluochun tea-roasting masters tournament at Dongting Mountain, Suzhou. In 2007 he won first prize in the Seventh China Tea Cup National Famous and High-Quality Tea Evaluation held by the China Tea Society, and in 2010 he won the special prize in the First National Drink Cup National Tea Evaluation held by the China Tea Society.
