Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

A man of Han ethnicity, he was born in May 1957 in Beijing. In 1976 he studied the traditional craft of treating foot ailments under Du Deshun and Liu Zhenying, mastering the eight knife techniques of trimming, gouging, lifting, slicing, separating, tearing, scraping and pinching, and becoming proficient in every kind of blade work. He was the first to use acupuncture, massage and moxa fumigation with bloodletting to treat heel inflammation and heel spurs, and he employed the “kneading wart technique”, treating warts by finger skill. He combined the traditional craft of treating foot ailments with modern techniques of Chinese and Western medicine, formulated technical standards and work procedures for the treatment of foot ailments, and standardised operating protocols. He has run more than twenty training courses for pedicurists, with over a thousand participants.

Honors & Recognition

He is a national representative bearer of traditional Chinese medical diagnostic and treatment methods (the traditional Qinghuachi pedicure technique), a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. He is a senior technician, an expert receiving the special government allowance of the State Council, and a recipient of the National May 1st Labour Medal. He has trained sixty-five pedicurists, including Cao Dongbin, Ren Xinchun and Li Jinming.
