Eleventh-generation transmitter of the Xiyuan throat specialty. Born into a medical family, he began studying medicine with his grandfather in 1954, laying a solid foundation in the specialized discipline of traditional Chinese medicine. Over decades of practice he absorbed the diagnostic and therapeutic methods of various schools and continually enriched and refined the therapeutic system of the Xiyuan throat specialty, enabling the effective treatment of many intractable oral and throat conditions, and establishing a distinctive approach, particularly in the treatment of loss of voice.

Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire

Male, Han ethnicity, born in October 1936 in She County, Anhui Province. In 1960 he attended a training course at Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where he studied TCM knowledge systematically. In 2003, together with his children, he founded the Huangshan Xiyuan Throat Medicine Research Institute and its outpatient clinic, collating the successive generations' writings of the Xiyuan throat specialty and recording a large number of clinical notes.

Honors & Recognition

National representative bearer of TCM Diagnostic and Therapeutic Methods (Xiyuan Throat Medicine), a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. He has continued to develop new pharmaceutical dosage forms, received several provincial and municipal science and technology achievement awards, and trained a number of transmitters of the medical art.
