At sixteen he took part in performances of the music association and studied the guanzi, sheng and bo under Xu Defa, Feng Yucai and others. He has a thorough knowledge of the entire repertoire and history of the association and is held in high esteem, with numerous disciples.
Honors & Recognition
Male, Han ethnicity, born in 1926, died in 2010, a native of Gu'an County, Hebei. Representative bearer of Sheng and Guan Wind Music of Central Hebei (Qujiaying Music Association), a second-batch national intangible cultural heritage project, and a first-class master of ancient music. His playing combines firmness and gentleness in a distinctive artistic style, and he took part in many national, provincial and municipal events, winning awards.
