Lineage & School of Heritage

She first studied under Yang Yi and later under Zhu Jincai. Making full use of the low, broad and rich quality of her own voice, she created new vocal idioms of her own, adeptly employing techniques such as tao, shan, ding, duo, ji, dun, cuo and lun to vary the rhythm, so that it is fast without confusion and slow without breaking off, supple and ingenious, and she thus became the founder of the Xiao school of laodan (old female) art.
