Sihuazhang
Mastery, Signature Works & Repertoire
His paper-cut works are plain yet vividly expressive, with beautiful modeling, and he skillfully exaggerates the characteristics of his images so that they are clear at a glance. The subjects he selects are wide-ranging, and the content carries a rich flavor of ethnic life and the local soil. The motifs he commonly uses include fabulous beasts and wondrous birds symbolizing good fortune, plants and flowers, and architectural forms such as pavilions, terraces, towers, stupas, and temples, as well as folk customs, Buddhist sutra stories, and popular legends. His works have been exhibited many times within and beyond the province, and he currently has one apprentice.
