Lineage & School of Heritage
At the age of 13 she joined the Shenchi County Cultural Propaganda Team to learn Daoqing singing, and at 16 she was transferred to the Shenchi County Daoqing Opera Troupe. She studied successively under Shi Suoren, Duan Xingwang and Li Aigeda, specializing in the qingyi and xiaodan roles, and later received guidance from such masters of the Northern-Road Bangzi as Jia Guilin and Li Yuemei, performing under the stage name Xiaoshanying (Little Mountain Eagle).

Female, of Han ethnicity, born in March 1946 in Shenchi County, Shanxi Province. Her singing is pure and her articulation forceful, her acting plain and generous; she is thoroughly accomplished in the needle-and-thread placard technique, sleeve-throwing, fan, sickle and scarf techniques, and is much loved by audiences. Her representative plays include Si Quan (Four Admonitions), Kai Xiang Ji (Opening the Chest), Sha Lou (Killing in the Tower), Zuo Lou (Sitting in the Tower), Hua Ting (The Flower Hall), Mu Yang Quan (The Sheepfold) and Yu Tang Chun. After retirement she has continued to take disciples and teach, helping the troupe revive traditional plays and create new ones, and has organized a senior citizens' performing group to pass on Daoqing skills and give public performances.
Honors & Recognition
She is a national representative bearer of Daoqing Opera (Shenchi Daoqing Opera), a fifth-batch national intangible cultural heritage project. Since she was transferred to teach at the Shenchi Art School she has trained dozens of students, most of whom have become leading performers in the troupe.
